An Invite to WonkyFolk Live in Washington, and a New Way to Contribute

Good morning, CharterFolk

This morning, I’m crowding out a normal Contributor Column slot to invite all you DCFolk—and all you CharterFolk who may be in DC next week—to join Andy and me for a live recording of WonkyFolk. We’ll be at the Crimson Whiskey Bar on Tuesday the 18th. Doors open at 4:00, and the recording starts at 4:30.

There isn’t much space left, so be sure to RSVP quickly. Drinks and appetizers are on us.

For those of you who can’t make it, there’s another way to contribute: send your questions to me at jed@charterfolk.org, and we’ll work them into the flow of the discussion. Goodness knows there’s enough for us to be talking about.

When Andy and I came up with this idea a few months back, we thought late February would be a good time to process what has happened in the early weeks of the Trump Administration. That’s turned out to be exactly the case.

Thoughts on a likely new Education Secretary? Talk of shuttering the Education Department? Charter School Program Grant guidelines issued and rescinded? Education research thrown into disarray? Charter schools’ prime facility financing vehicle on the chopping block? And the Supreme Court choosing to take up a case that could have as big an impact on the charter school movement as any single decision in our movement’s history?

To name a few.

All eyes are rightly on Washington these days, and we only have so much time.

To make sure we focus on what you care most about, drop me a line.

Or, if you’re in the area, come on by. But sign up soon—space is running out.
