Good day, CharterFolk.
As you’re headed into what I hope will be a great weekend, Andy and I are happy to share our latest WonkyFolk discussion.
Here is a link to the podcast and to a transcript of the discussion.
You can also access the conversation here on YouTube.
Andy’s a new man since last we spoke. Nice jacket. Collared shirt. New warm and fuzzy surroundings. In short, he’s gone legit on me, I’m afraid. It’s what happens, I guess, when you are one of the most sought after commentators on education matters in the United States these days.
But believe it or not, I think we forged some new ground during our time together:
- Talking about the instability in higher ed, how things are poised to perhaps getting even worse, and how that is rippling through to affect all of K-12.
- Revisiting the longstanding disequilibrium that has ended up undermining the Department of Education.
- Exploring what other disequilibria in education stand ready to be exposed as well, like the new scrutiny that is being placed on the finances of large urban school districts.
- Venting about Klein’s and Thompson’s new book Abundance not mentioning education at all.
In the end, we come to the conclusion that not all is lost. Some is, yes. But not all. And there are actually ample opportunities to make progress amid all the disruption we see in the education landscape.
We just have to keep talking about where those opportunities are.
Count us here at WonkyFolk to keep looking for them.
Have a great weekend.
